The French Broad River Dude Ranch prides itself on being the only dude ranch in the Great Smoky Mountains, and the “Best Western Experience in the East.” The scenery of the Smokies is breathtaking in and of itself, but when coupled with the flowing rapids of the French Broad, there is no denying that vacationing at this ranch is one of the best ways to experience this area of Tennessee. The “Lone Star Hotel” was built in 2006, but retains the rustic field of lone ranger days. The same can be said of the lodges and cabins, which can sleep up to nine. A vacationer’s itinerary varies by season, but can range from horseback riding, rafting, fishing, and team penning. The meals here are referred to as “grub” and is provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner with vacation packages. Vegetarian meals can be accommodated. The horses used at this ranch are strictly Arabian, because of their reputation as the best trail horses. Evenings are filled with live bluegrass music and bonfires.
